With CNY later in February, the expectation is that rates will generally go through March, at which time a softening should occur, given that overall demand does not seem to be in place to justify the spikes seen in January.
Even with the canal disruptions, some stabilization is occurring with new routings that most shippers are willing to deal with, assuming rates do come down. Many moving pieces make a volatile picture that must be watched closely.
