Trade Alert: USTR Delays Enactment for Updated Section 301 Tariffs
On May 28, 2024, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) proposed amendments to Section 301 of the U.S. Trade Act of 1974. The suggested tariff increases were initially scheduled to take effect on August 1st. However, following the announcement, the USTR received over 1,100 public comments which the Section 301 Committee is continuing to review. The final decision regarding the proposed modifications is expected to be released later this month. Upon public announcement, the approved changes will be implemented after a two-week period.
