Delayed Enactment of Updated 301 Tariffs
As of 8/29/24, there are no updates from the U.S. Trade Representative’s office on the effective date or other changes for updates to Section 301 duties associated with goods originating in China.
Updated Minimum and Maximum for Merchandising Processing Fees (MPF)
The United States Customs and Boarder Control has announced that they are increasing the minimum and maximum MPF. These changes will be effective October 1st, 2024.
The Canadian Nation (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) railways are up and running again after last week's Canadian Rail Strike. The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) imposed a Binding Arbitration between the workers and the two railroads.
While this arbitration is in place, work stoppages, including the strike notice that the Teamsters gave CN, cannot occur. Both railways and workers agreed to oblige to this ruling.
